WHO WE ARE
Welcome to Litochoro and Mount Olympus!
My name Sakis Prokovas and I was born in Litohoro. I speak fairly good English and some Russian. I graduated from The Higher School of Merchant Navy Radio Operators. I traveled around the world for a few years and when I settled in Litochoro, I opened the first cocktail bar then. Afterwards I opened a shoe store, which I maintained for 24 years.
In the recent years I entered the area of taxi business.
I participated and completed the three marathon races over one hundred kilometers in Olympus Mountains as well as in Rhodope Mountains. Therefore I hold the title of mountain ultramarathon runner.
I also completed six Olympus Marathon Races and dozens of other smaller distance mountain races.
Having run in all five different races that are organized on Olympus, I know very well this mountain, as it is my main training field.
I can follow tourists on their tours.
I drive a Toyota AVENSIS, 2000 cc, with air condition, ABS, airbags, large luggage space, etc.
I have a wide selection of all kinds of music for a pleasant journey.
Other hobbies: Music, film, politics, history, geography, sports.
A few words about Litochoro
It is the capital of the municipality of Dion-Olympus with 7500 inhabitants. It is the main gateway for climbers on Mount Olympus. Summer has high tourist numbers due to the mountains and beaches. The climate is generally mild with soft winters and cool summers. It has many service shops and sufficient commercial activity.

My wife and I have two young boys. We take them more or less everywhere and at the last minute decided on an Easter trip to Greece. We wound up at the Litochoro Olympus Resort, during a cold spell (5 to 10 degrees C), without a car, not knowing very much about the area. Things were beginning to look bleak, day after day eating the same food at the hotel. It was at this point that our driver Sakis came to the rescue! He took us to Mount Olympus, the historic city of Dion, a sheep farm and Old Panteleimonas. We had some great conversations in the car, covering mountain climbing, Greek/Macedonian history, politics, classic rock, food … you name it! Sakis is happy to talk, but also happy to listen. We learned a lot, enjoyed ourselves thoroughly and made a friend in the process. Our youngest son is quite determined and he keeps asking whether Sakis will be attending his birthday party in London, now our older son has joined in. Sakis is a legend … we recommend him highly for anyone who wants an exciting and informative journey through Thessaloniki, Mount Olympus and beyond!
